A pounding heart….

As I sit here on my deck this morning reading what has already been published, the beats of my heart seem to be getting quicker, each thump a reminder of this unusual journey I have traveled. I have not had a chance to tell my story to many people because the ending is still yet to come, still unwritten and filled with uncertainty. I really don’t know what people will say or how they will judge me in allowing my husband to come back home after finding out about his infidelity, but just know that wasn’t an agreement that was full of lust or a rekindle of our marriage. It was merely based on financial reasons and getting him the help I thought he deserved, an opportunity for redemption rather than a return to romantic bliss. I am a believer that God can move mountains, and even though the love I once had was gone for good, I still needed to help the man that I spent 18 years of my life with. It was an act of compassion, not weakness; it was a decision rooted in the hope of healing, not just for him but for the remnants of our family. I wanted my girls to continue loving their father and learning to forgive him for the mistakes he made. I often reflect on the memories that constructed our foundation—what we built together, the dreams we chased, and the laughter we shared—and I grapple with the shadows of betrayal that now linger in our space. Yet, amidst the chaos, I strive to find peace within myself, knowing that I am choosing a path of understanding over bitterness, giving grace when grace hadn’t been given to me. And I truly didn’t care about the affairs that I had already suspected, I had already adapted to the possibility of infidelity. Even though the truth still hurt a little, I already knew, I just didn’t have to proof until now. I diligently dove deeper into scripture finding myself in the book of Proverbs, with each verse telling me what I needed to know. The warnings that God gives us about evilness and what to watch out for.

As the next few weeks went forth, we attended church regularly, seeking solace in the familiar hymns and rituals that once brought us together. However, sitting next to my husband felt wrong, tainted by the secrets that lingered between us like an invisible wall. I put on a fake facade and played the game, exchanging polite smiles with him while my heart was heavy with doubt and betrayal. I was still trying to get more information from him about his betrayal, desperately searching for answers that would help me piece together the shattered trust in our marriage. I wanted to know how it started, when and where it all took place, as if uncovering the timeline of this betrayal might somehow lessen the pain. I had a relentless urge to know the details, feeling that ignorance would only prolong my suffering. He claimed that his acts took place in our home, in our bedroom when no one was home, a place once filled with love and tenderness turned into a setting for deceit. That revelation made me angry as I learned he was posting himself nude on what would have been Twitter, a platform I had never understood and intentionally avoided. I didn’t even know that posting nudity on a social media was a thing or even allowed, and the thought of him sharing such intimate moments so publicly was nauseating. I could never understand how to navigate Twitter, so I never used it, remaining blissfully unaware of its culture and norms, which now felt so foreign. My husband started attending a mens group at church that was more or less for cheating husbands and porn addictions. I am grateful for these resources that our church provided but I felt like it was just an obligation to attend these meetings. As the weeks went by I started to get a different feeling, So I really started to listen to what God was trying to tell me.

Reading Psalms and Proverbs, I thought God was trying to tell me to fix my marriage. The wives of this men’s group wanted to meet up with me, but I was hesitant and just didn’t feel like it was where I needed to be. My marriage was over, and I didn’t want a couple of women trying to talk me into staying with this man who had chosen deceit as his primary language. I wasn’t trying to fix my marriage, but rather I was trying to help the father of my children, hoping that somehow, through my own struggles, I could encourage him to find a better path. It was around Christmas time that my heart felt heavy; I couldn’t shake this feeling that something was wrong, and that there were still things being hidden from me. I was waking up again at 3 and 3:30 a.m., God urging me to pray, and each time I sat in the quiet of the early morning, the weight of uncertainty bore down on me. The air in our home felt thick with unspoken words and unresolved tension. I told God that I was trying my best to help this man, even though my own heart felt shattered. I poured my heart out to God every morning, begging Him to reveal what He wanted me to know, to guide me through the confusion and pain. In those vulnerable moments, He started showing me scripture that resonated deep within my spirit, urging me toward clarity and strength, speaking to my weary heart about trust and resilience.

Proverbs 17:20 (NLT) The crooked heart will not prosper, the lying tongue tumbles ing trouble.

Proverbs 16:30 (NLT) With narrowed eyes, people plot evil; with a smirk, they plan their mischief.

Psalms 1:6 (NLT) For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

It seemed like every verse was a warning, a warning to stop and listen, to stop and pray, a warning that the truth has yet to be revealed. Truth that is far more sinister than the truth that has already been revealed, lurking in the shadows like an unseen predator, waiting for the right moment to pounce. Each word instilled a sense of urgency and dread, urging me to seek him deeper. God was filling me with the strength I needed, He was urging me to let go of my husband for good, to release the chains of hope. My thoughts spiraled into a whirlwind of possibilities, swirling around my mind like a storm that refused to calm. One thought that was stuck inside my head was that my husband was “involved” with a man that did horrible things. It doesn’t matter if they were pictures or in the flesh; that man was not the man we thought we knew, and neither was my husband, the person I had devoted my life to. As these revelations crashed over me like waves, God was telling me there was something deeper lurking beneath the surface, urging me to seek clarity and truth, and that I needed to protect my children at all costs. I had no proof, only a heavy weight in my chest and the profound conviction that God was telling me to stop trying to fix him because I was grasping at the impossible—an endeavor that threatened not only my sanity but the very well-being of our family. With each moment of contemplation, the need for resolution and inner peace became increasingly overwhelming, pushing me toward the daunting path of acceptance of what I truly feared. I knew what I had to do, so I listened to the whispers and warnings that God was giving me and finally asked my husband to leave indefinitely.
